How to Preserve Your Silk Press: Roller Method

Keep your silk press looking fresh, bouncy, and full of body between appointments with this simple roller method.

What you’ll need:

  • a comb or brush

  • at least 3 flexi rods - ¾ inch - 1 inch diameter for long hair

  • a net, scarf, or bonnet

  1. Section your hair. Divide the front and crown area into three sections.

  2. Smooth each section. Gently comb through the hair, making sure the ends are smooth before rolling.

  3. Roll the hair. Starting at the ends, wrap each section around a large roller and roll toward the scalp. Keep light tension on the hair for a smooth finish.

  4. Secure your rollers. Repeat until all three sections are rolled and secured.

  5. Let it set. Leave the rollers in overnight or while you're getting ready. For nighttime wear, protect your hair with a satin or silk scarf/bonnet.

  6. Remove & style. Carefully take down the rollers, gently separate the hair, and allow it to fall into place. Avoid excessive combing to preserve your body and curls.

Maiya's Tip ✨: The goal isn't to create tight curls—it's to maintain the shape, volume, and movement of your silk press without adding more heat
